Compositions Adjuvant additive for lightweight concrete

Additive for Lightweight Concrete to Mix with Polystyrene Beads.

This additive is compatible with all types of lightweight aggregates: polystyrene beads, cork, expanded clay, pumice stone, etc. It optimizes the strength and density of light or reduced-weight concretes and mortars, offering an ideal solution for work requiring a more manageable and insulating material.

Instructions:

  1. Adding in concrete mixer or blender:

    • Pour the additive after the cement (and possibly the sand) and water.
    • Mix for 2 to 3 minutes.
    • Incorporate the polystyrene beads or other lightweight aggregates.
    • Continue mixing for 4 to 5 minutes.

  2. Use with truck mixer:

    • Add the additive and then the polystyrene beads directly on site.

  3. Pumps or projection machines:

    • Introduce the additive after all the components.
    • Mix for about 5 minutes.

Recommended dosage:

  • Light concretes and mortars: 1 to 2 kg/m³

Application temperature:

  • Between 5°C and 35°C

Properties:

  • Improved coating of polystyrene beads and other lightweight aggregates
  • Uniform distribution of aggregates
  • Excellent water retention
  • Optimized manageability
  • Strong adhesion for sprayed application
  • Plasticizing effect

Applications of Lightweight Concrete:

  • Production in BPE plant or on site
  • Heavy and light precasting
  • Coatings
  • Traditional, insulating or soundproof screeds
  • Renovation (filling, leveling without structural reinforcement)
  • Thermal and sound insulation (slabs, walls, screeds)

Densities:

  • Lightweight concrete: 300 to 1 800 kg/m³
  • Traditional concrete: 1 900 to 2 400 kg/m³

Advantages:

  • Simplified implementation
  • Reduced weight compared to traditional concrete
  • Improved thermal and acoustic performance
